VAILO unveils PC Amber variant of Zenith Gen-V sports light for wildlife-sensitive areas
VAILO, a manufacturer of ultra-high-performance LED lighting, has officially launched a new PC Amber variant of its flagship luminaire, the Zenith Gen-V.
Recognising the disruptive effects of artificial lighting on wildlife, the Zenith Gen-V PC Amber aims to minimise LED lighting’s impact to wildlife behaviour and circadian rhythms, while also reducing attraction to insects and simultaneously meeting the illumination requirements for human users.
VAILO Engineering and Production Manager Phil McKenzie highlighted the surge in LED lighting adoption due to energy efficiency and low maintenance in recent years, however, he noted the impacts of White LEDs in wildlife-sensitive areas, given their blue-rich spectrum.
“PC Amber LEDs contribute to biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystem management in wildlife-sensitive areas by eliminating blue light while maintaining a broad spectrum of emitted light for effective outdoor area illumination for human use,” Mr McKenzie said.
The luminaire retains the advantageous features of VAILO’s leading Zenith Gen-V, including internally-wired components resistant to cockatoo interference, a tempered glass lens with UV protection and an IK09 impact rating, specialised optics, a lightweight design and a powder-coated finish. However, it offers a different light source at 1000 watts.
VAILO CEO and Founder Aaron Hickmann said the company was excited to launch the new product, providing a solution for areas needing high-performance lighting with sensitive ecosystems nearby.
“As a proud Australian company manufacturing locally, we are always looking at new ways to develop our products for the Australian lifestyle,” Mr Hickmann said.
“The Zenith Gen-V PC Amber is a high-performance floodlight suitable for sports fields, mining areas, car parking and more. We look forward to seeing it installed across the country.”
