VAILO worked with Adelaide United Football Club (AUFC) and the City of Playford to upgrade the lights at Ridley Reserve in Adelaide’s north, which serves as the training base for Adelaide United.

The project encompassed the installation and aiming of 32 Zenith Gen-V 1500W sports luminaires to four existing poles, featuring all new Ingal EPS head frames. The physical installation and aiming was professionally conducted by Cornell Electrical.

The main field now achieves the horizontal average lux and uniformity requirements for Grade 3 Standard Training, as defined by FIFA, as requested by the club:

  FIFA Requirements:

(Grade 3 Standard Training)

VAILO installation:

(lighting audit results)

Horizontal Average Lux  300  321
Uniformity Min/Avg  0.6  0.69
Uniformity Min/Max  0.4  0.54

VAILO also achieved all Australian Standards for the installation, meeting both AS2560.2 for Sports Lighting and AS4282 for Outdoor Lighting Obtrusive Effects by utilising its custom designed optics to control light direction, uniformity and light spill.

Project delivery timing was crucial to be ready for AUFC to host the Panama Women’s National Football Team for their team training ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

VAILO has been a partner with the club for a couple of years, and they are excellent in what they do with LED sports lighting. FIFA want high-quality training venues, and this upgrade gets us closer to how match conditions would be at big stadiums.
