VAILO’s luminaires were installed as part of the upgrade at St Joseph’s College in Ferntree Gully, Victoria, enhancing the multi-use oval, soccer pitch, and multi-use hockey pitch/tennis courts.

St Joseph’s College, with around 1000 students from Years 7 to 12, needed a comprehensive upgrade of all its sports fields, including new surfaces and lighting to extend playing hours.

Stantec, the consulting engineers on the project, specified VAILO’s Zenith Gen-V 1500W fittings with electrical contractor, BeWired, installing the 36 luminaires across 14 new poles, which were manufactured and supplied by GM Poles.

The upgrades have brought the oval to 100 lux, the soccer pitch to 100 lux, and the multi-use hockey pitch/tennis court to 300 lux.

The lights installed at St Joseph’s Ferntree Gully are an integral part of the Sport Program’s development undertaken at the College. Our first foray into night football was showcased in the inaugural Don Bosco Cup as part of the Associated Catholic Colleges Competition. Players and spectators from both teams were blown away by the new facilities that were complemented by lighting that made you forget it was well past dusk.
