Following its role as the naming rights sponsor for one of Australia’s largest motorsport events, the VAILO Adelaide 500, VAILO continues to play a significant part in motorsport lighting upgrade projects.

Our most recent motorsport project, completed in June 2024, is Tolmer Speedway, located east of Adelaide. The owners of Tolmer Speedway have strong ties to the I-55 Raceway in Missouri, USA, and the Tolmer upgrade is a replica of this renowned USA track.

VAILO developed a design to achieve a track average of over 600 horizontal lux using 56 Zenith Gen V fittings across 14 outer and 2 inner track poles supplied by GM Poles.

The LED lighting system features DMX-controlled technology, offering both dimming and fully programmable light-show functionality.

Together, VAILO and Tolmer Speedway have set a new standard for speedway lighting in Australia.

Working with VAILO on lighting up the new Tolmer Speedway was a great experience. As a racer myself, I understand the importance of having top-quality lighting on the track. VAILO’s light fittings exceeded our expectations, especially with the feature of no exposed cabling, which will help prevent maintenance issues in the future as our district is prone to bird damage. The design team at VAILO took into consideration important factors such as minimising glare for racers and ensuring the cars are well-lit for broadcasting. The end result is nothing short of perfect. The DMX control of the lights is a game-changer in the Australian speedway scene and will definitely enhance the overall event experience. I am looking forward to working with VAILO on future lighting projects.
