With joint infrastructure funding from the South Australian State Government and the City of Onkaparinga, the Noarlunga United Soccer Club redeveloped their facilities at Wilfred Taylor Reserve in Morphett Vale. The upgrades included change rooms, car parking, and main pitch lighting.
VAILO Zenith Gen-V luminaires were specified for the project by Trinamic Consultants. Electrical contractor CME were awarded the contract to replace the old poles and eight metal halide luminaires with 16 VAILO Zenith Gen-V 1500W LEDs, installing them on four new poles acquired from Ingal EPS.
As a result of the new lights, the lux levels increased from less than 100 to over 200. This improvement allows the club to extend training hours, facilitating the growth of both their junior and senior teams. They can now host night games on their own field, avoiding the need to rent external venues. Additionally, the club plans to rent out the field to other clubs and associations on days they don’t use it to generate extra income.
Turning the lights on for the first time, it was a wow moment. To have such bright lights… it’s going to come in handy for catch-up games without us having to go and hire a pitch. We can look at playing night games here under the lights.
