VAILO lift Norwood Oval to AFL standards
VAILO has begun works on its Norwood Oval project with the installation of 300 metres of LED digital display screens to be followed by the upgrade of LED stadium lights in the coming year.
The project is part of VAILO’s partnership with Norwood Football Club which has plans to turn Norwood Oval into the first truly carbon neutral sporting ground in Australia.
“This is an exciting partnership between two South Australian businesses both located in the same council area,” says Norwood Football Club CEO James Fantasia.
“Through the use of energy efficient LEDs, adoption of smart technology, solar and batteries we plan to make the venue truly carbon neutral.”
The installation of VAILO’s Horizon LED digital display screens, makes Norwood Football Club the first SANFL team to invest in lifting its game-day experience to AFL standards.
“Norwood Oval is the first venue of its class in Australia to have a digital boundary,” says VAILO CEO & Founder Aaron Hickmann.
“The screens will enhance Norwood’s event experience by integrating compelling content to the venue to amplify sponsor reach and entertain fans and event attendees,
“The installation also ensures Norwood can host other SANFL, AFL, AFLW and other sporting code or events.”
VAILO will also be upgrading the current halogen stadium lights to full LED luminaires with its Australian designed and manufactured Zenith Gen-V 1500W LED stadium light. The switch will result in a reduction of up to 80% in lighting energy consumption at the venue.
“Norwood will be the first project where the ultra high-powered Zenith Gen-V luminaires will be installed,” says Mr Hickmann.
“It’s exciting as the Gen-V has been designed and manufactured just down the road from Norwood Oval in Kent Town, supporting our local team of 15, as well as over 100 other indirect local jobs.”
The LED lights are a part of stage two of the project and will be completed by the end of the year.
